GOAL 1
Establish an environment that enables each student to
perform at the highest level of which he or she is capable:
a.
Provide an
environment that makes available the highest standard of education from
which each student can profit.
b.
Provide a
psychologically and physically safe and secure environment for learning.
c.
Provide a
child-centered curriculum to accommodate the different abilities and
interests of children.
d.
Recruit and
retain the most internationally qualified faculty available and promote
and expect their continued professional growth.
GOAL 2
Promote the skills, knowledge, attitudes and positive
self-concept necessary for the lifelong intellectual and physical
development of each student.
a.
Provide
opportunities for students to develop intellectual, cultural, aesthetic,
social and physical abilities.
b.
Provide a
broad program of activities that will encourage social interaction,
cooperation and leadership through cooperative learning experiences.
c.
Provide
opportunities for students to develop skills necessary to evaluate
intellectual and ethical alternatives, make responsible decisions and
solve problems.
d.
Stimulate the
development of sense of responsibility and self-reliance.
e.
Develop the
ability and desire to communicate effectively in writing, speaking, and
reading and to do so in more than one language through an integrated
language approach.
GOAL 3
Develop strategies to help students live in an
increasingly complex, challenging, interdependent and changing world:
a.
Help students
acquire useful and practical skills to function within society.
b.
Help students
become lifelong self-disciplined, enthusiastic, organized independent
learners.
c.
Promote
analytical and divergent thinking, intellectual risk taking and
curiosity and creative problem solving.
d.
Promote an
understanding of diverse political, economic, geographic, social and
environmental forces that shape world affairs.
e.
Develop an
ability to deal constructively with change and stress.
f.
Provide
awareness of new developments and discoveries in all disciplines.
GOAL 4
Foster awareness of the rights, duties and
responsibilities of citizenship as well as respect for other cultures:
a.
Encourage
participation in activities which develop civic consciousness and
responsibility.
b.
Foster an
appreciation of music, dance, visual arts, social and cultural
traditions.
c.
Help students
learn to conserve resources and promote and appreciation for and
maintenance of the natural environment.
d.
Develop the
skills needed to function as a citizen of one’s own culture and as a
citizen of the world.
GOAL 5
Encourage all students to benefit fully from the rich
educational opportunities offered by living in Trinidad & Tobago:
a. Promote
knowledge of the historical and cultural traditions of Trinidad and
Tobago through activities in and out of the school setting.
b. Foster
positive contacts with the Trinidad and Tobago environment in a spirit
of service to the community and respect for its people.
c.
Promote an awareness of students’ rights and responsibilities as
residents of Trinidad and Tobago and the world.
